SARA BAREILLES

Singer | Songwriter

UCLA Class of 2003

Sara Bareilles is a proud UCLA alumna and quotes her time at Spring Sing in 2000, 2002, and 2003  to be some of the most impactful experiences for her as a young artist. "The community of friends and fans that I was exposed to through UCLA became the support system I needed to plant my roots as a songwriter and take the risks I needed to take to perform live and find my voice as an artist.  For me personally, the goal of getting to participate in Spring Sing as a company member, a solo act, or in my a cappella group were highlights of my UCLA years, and inspired me to dig in and pursue my dreams of being an artist. To this day I don't think I have ever been as nervous as I was taking the stage at Spring Sing the first time, OR as exhilarated. It was unforgettable. I am so grateful."

Sara has gone on to become a Grammy winning, Multi-Platinum selling recording artist, and a Tony and Emmy nominated composer and performer. She has written a New York Times best selling book, called Sounds Like Me, and the music and lyrics for the hit Broadway musical, Waitress. She is currently starring in a new musical comedy on Peacock, executive produced by Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond called Girls 5 Eva. Sara's most recent record, Amidst the Chaos: Live from the Hollywood Bowl, is out May 21, and captured Sara's ultimate dream to get to headline the Hollywood Bowl for the first time.

But she says, "It all started at Spring Sing. Congrats to my dear UCLA Bruins, and enjoy this extraordinary night. Have so much fun.”
