During his freshman year at UCLA, Hayden Everett performed the first song he’d ever written at Spring Sing 2018. He recalls, “During my freshman year at UCLA, I performed the first song I’d ever written at Spring Sing. Performing as a duet with Caroline Pernick, I was shocked to win “Best Overall” and a couple other awards. Staring into Pauley Pavilion with 10,000 swaying flashlights while I sang words that held deep personal value was truly insane. The way this crowd at the 2018 Spring Sing reacted to and embraced the first song I’d ever written was ultimately what gave me the reassurance to record my first EP in Brooklyn, NY later that same year.”
Since then, that first EP of 5 songs has garnered over 2 million streams, multiple placements on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, and has led to him signing a record deal with a UK label called Platoon, which is now owned by Apple. Currently in his Senior Year, and graduating this Spring, he is releasing his second EP at the end of May with their help. Upon graduation, he will be moving to London to be near the label headquarters while recording his debut full length album with some of his dream producers and writers. He is very grateful for his time at UCLA and to Spring Sing for kick starting his career and providing the motivation and confidence to begin recording and releasing his music.
